The most recent announcement about the 2018 CrossFit open comes directly from the man, Dave Castro himself, warning that the Open Competitors should be “prepared for the unknown and the unexpected.” On the very same day, CrossFit HQ mentioned the newest addition to the 2018 Standards – Hand Protection Guidelines

2018 Standard for Hand Protection - 2018 CrossFit Open

“In general, gear is allowed that improves safety and/or comfort, but does not confer an advantage.

Athletes may wrap tape around the pull-up bar OR wear hand protection (gymnastics-style grips, gloves, etc.), but they may not tape the bar AND wear hand protection.

Remember to review movement standards and workout descriptions carefully before attempting Open workouts.

The Open starts Feb. 22. Learn more and sign up here.”

Does this mean there we’ll be getting gymnasty during the Open this year!? We’re going to place our bet on a big Y-E-S.

Pull-ups, T2B, BMUs and more is our guess. Don’t believe the hype? Peep it to believe it below:
