Tell us a little about you…

What are some of your athletic accolades?

I am a professional obstacle course racer, lover of CrossFit, and overall hybrid athlete. I won NBC’s Spartan Ultimate Team Challenge with my incredible team of OCR newbies, I was an American Ninja Warrior on ANW Season 10, I competed in Tough Mudder’s TMX World Championships, and I frequently compete in CrossFit competitions, triathlons and any other competitions I can get myself into.

What have been some trying moments during your athletic career, or life in general, that have shaped you into the person you are today?

One of the most trying moments in my life is moving away from my family and friends and starting life after college in a new state where I didn’t know a single person. While it can be hard to put yourself out there in a new city and find where you fit, it is also an incredible opportunity to experience new things, take risks, and set new goals. This is what I did when I came to Florida. From this, I have learned the incredible things that can happen when you just say “yes”. I learned the benefit of squeezing as much out of life as possible, and I started to see what it really means to not give up when things get uncomfortable. I would define myself as relentless, and I would not have gotten to this point without having to push through those times.

What fuels your motivation and passion every day to get up and chase your goals?

I don’t just want to work hard, I want to be the hardest worker in the room. I love being able to show others that they are capable of so much more than what they think. I feel it is my duty to show others that, with Christ, anything is possible. I want what I am doing to inspire others to take a risk, sign up for a race, challenge themselves in a new way, or pursue a passion that they have been putting off. Every person that gets up and makes moves towards their goals motivates me every day to continue to chase mine. My passion and my energy comes from my excitement to be able to serve the Lord with what I do every day but continues to be fueled by everyone I meet along this journey and puts in the work to better themselves.

How do you balance your professional career and your athletic career? What advice do you have for those looking to get to your level, or follow in your footsteps?

The key to balancing a professional career and an athletic career is to be prepared. “Always be ready” is a way of life. This involves planning and packing your food, gear, and any other essentials. I configured my schedule to be able to train in the morning and again once I leave work. Some days, I will get my training in over a lunch break. If you make it a priority, you will find the time for it, but being prepared for those long days is very important so that you are properly fueled, hydrated, and ready for whatever life can throw your way!

What do you do in your down time?

In my down time, I am a total beach bum. I love playing Spike Ball, volleyball, soccer, or anything really on the beach with friends. I am very involved in my church and serve there. I have also been working on a new app with a team of developers. I love building things and I look forward to the day we can release this to the public!

How do you make sure your nutrition is in line to keep you fueled, fed, and balanced?

The best thing I did to make sure that I keep my nutrition in line is to take the guesswork out of it. I’ve always been a number person and driven by targets and goals, so that is what I did with my nutrition. I wear an Apple Watch which tracks calories burned during my workouts, and I use those numbers to calculate how much I need to eat to refuel myself every day. I use a nutrition tracking app so that at any point throughout the day, I know just how much more I need to eat. This helped me so much with recovery. Once I was properly fueling myself, I was noticing I was less sore after workouts, more energized, and ready to train again. The proper nutrition and supplementation are also incredibly key, especially living in Florida where you lose so many key electrolytes sweating.

Why do you choose to fuel with Swolverine?

I choose to fuel with Swolverine because I know that I am getting quality. The team behind the scenes share my same values, work hard, and make sure that the products they push out are clean, high quality, and cover all the bases. I love the breadth of products they offer and the pure form of many supplements that are hard to find.
