Tell us a little about you…
My name is Mitch Wagner. My wife and I moved to Augusta from Columbus, GA in August of 2018. We have a 2-year-old golden retriever and my wife is working through a residency to become a Periodontist for the U.S. Army.
- I grew up in Oregon City, Oregon.
- I LOVE the outdoors, football/basketball and traveling.
- I am a big coffee snob and I have recently been into grilling and smoking ALL the meats.
What are your favorite athletic accomplishments?
Making it to 5 straight regionals was pretty cool, but I’m still in the hunt for that elusive games invite. This process is still pending so hopefully when healthy we can update this 🤙🏼
What advice can you give someone who's looking to get into competing?
Find some training partners/ preferably ones better than you and get after it! Attack your weaknesses daily and HAVE FUN!
How can people get abs like you?
Haha to be honest a lot of it is genetics “thanks mom and dad”. Just being disciplined in your eating decisions. Abs are made in the kitchen, but that doesn’t mean you can’t crush a couple beers and sleeves of Oreos every now and then lol
Tell us about your doggo!
Riley boy is out 2 years old golden retriever. He’s our child and grew up in the gym. He loves a pair of good socks or shoes, preferably sweaty. He occasionally will steal them but don’t worry he just likes to show them to everyone and doesn’t chew them. He loves swimming, walks and a good howl at sirens. We love our little buddy.

What has been the biggest adversity/setback that you've encountered as an athlete?
I’m currently recovering from bicep tenodesis surgery. That’s been pretty tough because I could lift anything more than a spoon for 8 weeks and I’ve been very slowly adding movements back in as I strengthen that shoulder.
2017 I tore my pec in that ring dip workout at Regionals. That was pretty devastating because I was trying to improve on my performance from the previous year and it was a lot of work to end up having that outcome.
With any setback, it’s all about your attitude! Don’t let it get you down, use it as your motivation and come back even better.
Favorite Metcon or WOD?
Fran or a running style of DT.
What would people be surprised to know about you?
I have a finance degree from Oregon State University.
Favorite part about coaching CrossFit®?
I just love the people I get to be around every day. Helping people inspiring them to do something they didn’t think they could do is a really good feeling.
Why do you choose to use Swolverine & what are your favorite products?
I loved the products! They taste great and are super clean. I use the whey isolate ( chocolate of course) and clean carbs the most. A lot of post-workout carb drinks are full of fake sugars and fillers. Clean carbs are probably as close as you can get to a whole food source.
