Tell us a little about you…

My name is Maria Litwiler and I initially reached out to Swolverine in the hopes of pursuing some kind of partnership. Why? Simple. SWOLVERINE's values, ethics, and brand representation fall closely in line with the way I live my life as both an individual and an athlete. I’m a working professional, I’m not a full-time athlete.

What do you do in your profession?

I rehabilitate a variety of patients from Stroke sufferers to Alzheimer’s Disease as a Speech-Language Pathologist at a hospital and in my spare time, I’m a Certified Personal Trainer at my box. I believe in integrity and living an honest life where I can make an impact not only for myself but for all of those that I come into contact with. Sure, life is busy, but if you’re doing the things that you love while inspiring others to do the same, what’s there not to embrace?

Doing things you love… how did you discover your love for CrossFit?

I was an NCAA Division I rower and when I was in grad school I stumbled across CrossFit. It immediately became a craving of mine because it fueled that competitive spirit I’ve always filled with sports throughout my life. Flash forward, through a lot of long training hours and studying, I graduated and earned myself a spot as a rookie on Team Raw Training competing on the floor at the 2015 Atlantic Regionals. We finished 6th – talk about heartbreak. Not only that, but my team fell apart, leaving me to train on my own unsure of my competitive future with CrossFit.

Team or Individual, which direction did you go from there?

Well, in the meantime while I figured it out, I put my head down and tried to train and develop my weaknesses as best as possible, in hopes that I’d figure it out at some point. I think a lot of athletes come to the conclusion that they can be good enough to pursue competition as an individual, but one of the biggest and best aspects of CrossFit is the community.

Tell us a little more about your Team experience...

There’s something so unique and amazing about being on a Team that you just can’t quite grasp when you’re an individual. Alas, RAW Training pursued Regionals as primarily a rookie team and we placed 13th. I was proud and honored to compete alongside those girls. I'm pleased to say we earned our spot at the 2018 CrossFit Games

What does a partnership with SWOLVERINE mean to you?

I want to be better at all aspects of fitness and that includes being a well-rounded, grounded and motivating athlete and individual. Through my health, attitude, passion, and abilities, I believe SWOLVERINE compliments my abilities and aspirations. I work very hard to tell myself and show my self that “I AM good enough” which leads me to want to help others discover this within their own selves.

SWOLVERINE reflects many of my same values, and I believe that together, through proper supplementation and the right nutritional lifestyle. Together we can show the world that anything is possible with a little extra heart, determination, and inspiration. I love being a part of this team, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
