Tell us a little about you…

I’m Hanna Venemyr and I’m a full-time crossfitter and business owner in Bergen, Norway. I found CrossFit when I was on vacation a few years ago and didn’t really understand it until I did a drop-in at a local box. I immediately found out that it was the perfect sport for me. I fell in love right away and have never regretted it!

You mention you’re an entrepreneur, can you tell us a little more about your business?

Yes! My business, RXperformance, is an online retailer of CrossFit apparel and gear. I love the sport so much that I decided why not deliver the highest quality products to other crossfitters that we love and use every day?

Your passion for the sport is pretty awesome! What do you love about it most?

One of the best things about CrossFit, to me, is the diversity of the sport. Training varies every single day, you very rarely do the same thing, and it’s always intense. I’ve always been pretty easily bored, and with CrossFit, there’s never been a time where bored was even a word that came into my head to describe it. There are always ways to strengthen your strengths and develop your weaknesses.

You’re a pretty goal-oriented person, how do you translate that into the impact you have on others?

In my life, I’ve learned that you can achieve anything you want as long as you’re willing to give it all that you’ve got. I try to help people understand this in the sport and in their lives. If you’ve got big dreams, chase them. Then dare to dream even bigger, even if it feels unrealistic. It’s not what you do that matters, not how you look, where you’re from or how you’re built. If you want something bad enough, I believe, you’ve got to find a way to get it.

What advice do you have for people who may be intimidated by big goals?

Believe in yourself. Seriously, this is probably the most important key to success, and I have to work on it every single day. Whether you think you can, or you cannot, you’re right. In competition, your mental game is often probably just as important as your physical ability, which I’ve learned the hard way, and where I still have a long way to go.

Unlike a lot of other athletes, you weren’t an athlete prior to CrossFit, and now you’re going to the CrossFit Games. What have you found about competing that has changed your life?

You’re right, I don’t have any prior competition experience before CrossFit, and the importance of this has been overlooked for a long time for me. But if you learn to be confident and believe in yourself and trust the work you’ve put in, I think you can go a long way. Find the right way for you and trust in it. Prior experience to get into CrossFit isn’t necessary – you just have to have passion and determination and a willingness to work hard.

Why do you choose to fuel with SWOLVERINE?

I think it’s important to fuel your body with mainly natural and clean food, and give it the right nutrients in order to be able to perform your best in general. I feel better when I eat better, and when I feel better I perform better. But I am a strong believer in chocolate and treating yourself! I don’t think to make specific foods “forbidden” is the way to go, as long as you enjoy your lifestyle and want to feel good you will make the right food choices for yourself, with some chocolate on the side every now and then of course
