Tell us a little about you…

My name is Chantelle Loehner and I’m a full-time coach and crossfitter. I grew up in Cary, Illinois. I was an NCAA Gymnast at Eastern Michigan University where I earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work. I’ve always had a passion for working out and pushing both my mind and body further and further. Not to mention, I’m extremely competitive and love the competitive challenge that CrossFit presents. It fuels a passion that I’ve had all my life. A friend of mine convinced me to try CrossFit after I graduated college and I was immediately hooked.

What do you love about CrossFit most?

I love that the sport has so many different aspects to it. From mobility to weightlifting, gymnastics to endurance, it literally has it all. It pushes me out of my comfort zone on a daily basis and forces me to become comfortable with the uncomfortable. I believe that the sport not only builds you physically but builds your character and your mindset as well, in ways that other sports never quite have for me. I always want to be better and this sport allows me to do just that… and so much more.

Who inspires you most?

I don’t think I could name just one person, so I’m going to say that the whole entire CrossFit community, as a whole, inspires me. Specifically, the members of my local affiliate. I absolutely LOVE hearing people’s stories and their ‘why’ for the sport of CrossFit. It’s absolutely amazing to be surrounded by like-minded people on a daily basis who all want to better themselves in every aspect of their lives. Everyone has a unique story and together we can all come together to share the same passions. It’s amazing. I love it.

You placed top 10 in the world in the 2018 CrossFit Open. What was that like?

Honestly, it was one of the best feelings knowing that every ounce of heart and soul that I’ve poured into myself and my training can be proven on the world stage. Competing at an elite level with some of the best CrossFit athletes in the world is honestly one of the most humbling things I have ever experienced. It has helped me become confident in my abilities and I have learned that there is, and will always be, something that I need to work on. There will always be something I need to do more of, or work a little harder at. I love being pushed and inspired by other athletes.

How does being a CrossFit Athlete impact the other areas of your life?

CrossFit has taught me a lot about balance in my life. While it is important to spend time in the gym getting better, I think that it is equally as important to spend time outside of the gym doing things that I enjoy doing to maintain that healthy balance between work and having fun!

How does nutrition and supplementation fuel your performance?

For the most part, I follow a “strict” and “clean” diet. I strongly think that what you put into your body directly relates to how you perform in the gym. I’ve fallen into the trap of following many “diets” before and have found that I know my body best and know what it needs to perform at the highest level possible. If I feel like I need more food, I eat more food. And this of course includes the occasional cheat meals, can’t forget about those! I’ve found that supplements from SWOLVERINE refine all the hard work I put into my diet and my training. I love them, they’re clean, and I highly recommend them to any athlete.

What sets you apart from everyone else?

I am sure that there are many people who could say the same, but I will never give up. No matter what, I will always push to be better than yesterday and not become complacent with where I am at. I do not believe in such a thing as “losing.” I learn and get better from every experience that I encounter, and also accept the fact that I will always have weaknesses, but this just makes me want to work that much harder!
