Tell us a little about you…
What are some of your athletic accolades?
- 8x All American and the 2015 NCAA Division III National Champion in the pentathlon (60m hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump, 800m dash)
- 2016 CrossFit Games Central Regionals team member
2019 Wodapalooza Fitness Festival, 4th place Rx division
What have been some trying moments during your competitive CF career or life in general that have shaped you into the person you are today?
The biggest trying moment for me was not qualifying for the 2018 CrossFit Games Regionals, which was unfortunately the last year of regional competition. I was a member of the team at CrossFit Rise and we were the first spot to miss the cut. I was devastated no doubt but I used that energy to push my performance to the next level and set my focus to Wodapalooza. In Miami I went on to win 2 events and capped off a great season of training. Now I am looking forward to the next adventure of competition (Location TBD J).
Which do you enjoy more, competing as an individual or on a team, and why?
Tough to say. I enjoy competing as an individual because I like being in control of all the variables (training, nutrition, recovery, mental preparation, etc.). However, there is no feeling unlike being a member of a team and watching yourself and your teammates triumph over hardships, celebrate victories together, and just have a blast during the training process.
Tell us the best piece of advice you can give someone looking to get into CF?
First and foremost, get your nutrition in check. It is impossible to progress in this sport without sound eating and hydration…your body will thank you! Second, don’t get wrapped up in the glamorous movements. Perfect the basics first, and then the more difficult movements will come to you quicker and more efficiently.
How do you give back or positively impact your CF community?
I am a certified Precision Nutrition coach and I help clients reach their performance and aesthetic goals through education and accountability. I love seeing others surpass their expectations in both the gym and the kitchen, and create new routines towards a healthier, yet sustainable lifestyle. I am also starting my Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Northwestern University this fall, and use my knowledge of therapeutic exercises and mobility techniques to help friends and teammates recover and prevent injury.
What do you like to do outside of the box?
I love to be outside and in the kitchen. Mountains and tacos are my favorite.
Why do you choose to fuel with Swolverine?
I chose to fuel with Swolverine because I believe in their mission of providing athletes with the cleanest ingredients to support their performance goals. In the massive market of CrossFit supplementation, there are many products filled with proprietary blends, fillers, and ingredients that you can’t pronounce. As a nutrition coach and competitive athlete, I appreciate the full transparency of Swolverine and knowing exactly what I am putting into my body.
